A big accomplishment!

Tristan has reached a huge milestone...he can now sit up on his own!!!! Up until recently he would always push up to stand when we would try to sit him down and now he is staying seated and balancing himself. He began sitting about 2 weeks ago, but still needed help from Mom and Dad, in the last few days, he's started keeping himself upright and playing with toys. He has even caught himself from falling a few times when he grabs for a new toy.

Speaking of grabbing for things, this child is interested in everything! He grabs hair, earrings, noses, cheeks (and that's just on your face). If he is near a plate on the table, he gets that in his hands and he is quick about it! He thinks everything is toy and he wants it. Victor and I can't even drink out of a cup or bottle (water or beer) near him, because he wants to grab it. Since he was so interested in other cups, I gave him a sippy cup recently and he picked it up and started drinking. I have only tried a little bit of water in the cup so far, but am going to try some juice in a few weeks (after his 6 month checkup).

Tristan also definitely knows his name when he hears it. When Victor comes in from work and calls Tristan's name, Tristan turns his head to look for him. It is amazing just how smart this little boy is.

This past week, we went to the park to check out the swings. Tristan really enjoyed the swing and started giggling when I pushed him in it...I'm sure we will be getting an outdoor swing at the house soon enough! Just what he needs, another toy!

Well, I guess that is about it...I can't believe he is growing up so fast...just think, he will be crawling next. Check out the new pics of him sitting up and some other things.

Tristan can hold his bottle!

Our little boy is just so advanced! Now that Tristan is bottlefed he has decided to take matters into his own hands (literally!) by holding his own bottle. Beggining at about 6 to 8 weeks old, he would try to hold his bottle when I would pump, but he couldn't make it through the whole feeding, but now he has it down pat! He just lays on the floor and drinks until the bottle is empty. He even tilts the bottle to get the last drips out--what a piggy!

He also recognizes the bottle as soon as he sees it. He doesn't even give us a chance to shake up the formula, once he spots it, he wants it and if we don't react quick enough, then the neighbors down the road can probably hear him! He is the most impatient little boy (gee, I wonder where he gets that from?!?!). He is developing quite the personality.

Tristan's First Easter

Tristan's first Easter was wonderful! Grandma Mildred, Grandma Linda and Grandpa all came over to eat lunch with Victor, Tristan and myself and we hunted eggs afterward. Since it was rather cold outside, the easter bunny was nice enough to hide the eggs indoors this year. I have to say, Tristan did quite well...he found all the eggs all by himself, well maybe with a lttle help! He also received all kinds of gifts from the Easter bunny and family. Thank you to everyone who thought of him this Easter. I posted a ton of pictures below.

Yeah, a new post!

Finally, a new post! I have received many comments, mostly from Victor, that they are tired of looking at the giant Easter Bunny pic, so I decided I better "hop" on it (a little Easter humor) with a new post. We have been very busy over the last week and a half.

Last week we mostly ran errands and spent a lot of time picking out new frames for all of Tristan's recent pictures. As you know by now, I am a definite picture taker and we had so many new pictures to put up around the house, I ran out of frames! We also tried to re-take some pictures in the bluebonnets, but Tristan was not very cooperative! He did okay at first but he was more interested in chewing on the blanket than looking at the camera, so I picked him up and we took pictures of the other kids (Melissa's son, Kaeson, and Melanie's daughter, Ashley), then by the time it was Tristan's turn again he didn't want to sit alone, so I had to hold him. I guess I will just have to settle for the pictures I already got in the bluebonnets, since the weeds are starting to take over now.

Last weekend we went to Fredericksburg for a little shopping and picked up a gift for Grandma Mildred's birthday (on April Fool's Day). Tristan gave her the necklaces and bracelet he picked out at lunch last Sunday and also gave her lots of BIG, WET, SLOPPY kisses (check out the pic below).

The last couple of days we were preparing for Easter. We got baskets, eggs, egg dye, confetti, and the other stuff you need to have a fun easter. On Saturday, my Mom (Linda) and Victor's Mom (Mildred) and my friend Melissa and her son, Kaeson, came over to dye Easter eggs. It was super-messy, but we ended up with some really cool eggs. We had tye-dye, marbleized, confetti, and my favorite, "dripped-on" (from Martha Stewart) eggs. Tristan even received a few early Easter gifts, a Dr. Seuss book and card from Aunt Bernice and Uncle Donny and a blue bunny from Grandpa and Grandma Linda.

Tristan also had to pick out a birthday gift for Masyn, who turned 1 this week. He went to her party on Saturday and he had such a blast that he would not take a nap all day and didn't want to go to bed at night even though he was dog tired. Needless to say, Saturday night was a long night!

Amongst all this excitement and happenings, we were still able to spend lots of time playing with toys and rolling over. Tristan is now getting to the age where toys are very interesting to him. Anything he can get a hold of gets picked up and goes straight to the mouth. He loves toys that have the crinkle sound (like ears of stuffed animals and such), toys with lights and sound and pretty much anything he can grip in his hand easily. He is even starting to get angry if he wants a toy and can't get it...he has developed this habit of throwing toys on the ground from his Exersaucer and expecting us to pick them up! If you don't pick the toy up he starts to cry, but then he will just throw it back on the ground--boy, does he have us trained, or what? His personality is beginning to show more and more each day. He giggles and laughs all day at silly faces and sounds and gets extremely cranky when he is tired. His mood can change at the drop of a hat, but no matter what kind of mood he is in, he always starts laughing when he sees Victor! Every night when Victor gets home and Tristan spots him come through the door, he starts smiling and laughing, and Victor isn't even doing anything! No faces, sounds, nothing! I have even had a hard time feeding Tristan when Victor is in the room because he gets so distracted and wants to play with Daddy...he just loves his Daddy!

Speaking of food, Tristan has been enjoying quite a few new foods recently too. He has eaten squash, sweet potatoes, carrots, green beans and oatmeal cereal. He ate the squash, but it wasn't his favorite, loved the sweet potatoes and carrots and is still deciding about the green beans...I don't think they are going to be on his list of favorite foods any time soon! This week he is going to start peas, then he will move on to apple sauce, peaches and pears. Yummy, yummy, yummy! He also started to get formula on a more regular basis the last couple of days. Up until now, he was breastfed, but I am starting to wean him off to formula. So far, the formula has been pretty gentle on his stomach and his reflux has actually been a little better.

I posted some pics below of what's been going on lately...

Tristan's Visit to the Easter Bunny

Tristan visited the Easter Bunny at the mall yesterday and had his picture taken. He did so well...he even told the Easter Bunny that he wanted A LOT of easter eggs hidden so that he and his Mommy and Daddy could go egg hunting! What am I going to do with him?!?!?!?

Tristan's Bunny Pictures

Tristan's bunny pictures came out so adorable! Tristan loved the bunny he had his picture taken with and the bunny was so well behaved, he didn't mind that Tristan was trying to eat his ear! I posted the link and instructions below to view the proofs. I think they will be up until the end of March, so check them out.

Tristan loves prunes!

Tristan is beginning his third week of solid foods this week. So far, we have covered plain rice cereal, rice cereal with bananas, bananas and prunes. His favorite food is definitely prunes! This child gobbles them down and can't wait for you to give him the next spoonful. He hasn't really been a big fan of the rice cereal and I have had to coax him to eat it by mixing the bananas or prunes in with cereal after a few days of the fruit alone (to ensure no allergies). If the cereal is mixed, he eats it most of the time. We are still working on the best time of day to eat the solids, because he doesn't seem too hungry for them in the morning after he nurses. Early afternoon and late evening seem to work the best. Hopefully we will get a better routine going soon! I think I am going to try green beans and then peas next, so we will see if he enjoys those foods as much as his prunes.

We had a really busy week and were on the go most of the time, so I don't have too many candid pictures, but I posted what I had below.

Kiddie Kandids!

More pictures of Tristan...I know, I know! Tristan and I just happened to go to Babies R' Us on Friday with my friend Melissa and her son, Kaeson, and we wound up getting pictures taken of the boys--totally unplanned! We had their Easter pictures taken with live baby bunnies earlier that morning with a photographer (which I will post when I have the proofs), but couldn't resist taking more, since they were a great price!

So, you may be wondering about his outfits since this was unplanned, right? Bought them at Babies R' Us before the picture session. The pictures came out adorable and are posted below, so check them out. Can't wait to see the Easter pictures.

Tristan's 4 Month Checkup

Today Tristan went to the pediatrician for his 4 month check up. He weighed in at 13 pounds, 8 ounces and was in the 50th percentile for weight, up from the 25th percentile at 2 months. He measured almost 25 inches and is still in the 75th percentile for length. The doctor said he was doing great and was even surprised that he is already getting into the "frog position" trying to push up with his legs when on his stomach. Watch out, he might start crawling soon!

The pediatrician also discussed with Victor and myself all the new foods Tristan gets to start enjoying. Everything from cereal to veggies and fruit. Boy, is he going to be in for a ride on the food roller coaster! I plan on going to the store tomorrow and buying all his new foods, so I will keep everyone posted on how he takes to eating food with a spoon!

And of course, the main event of his check up, the SHOTS! At his 2 month check up Tristan wasn't too bothered by the shots, but things were definitely different this round. After the first poke, there were four altogether, he screamed bloody murder for about 20 or so minutes and was inconsolable. Victor and I both felt horrible!

Overall, his appointment went really well and Tristan is progressing right on track.

Tristan is 4 months old!

Tristan turned 4 months old on Saturday and he is defintely starting to show off his personality. Lately, he has been smiling, laughing, playing with toys and of course crying and screaming! Over the past month or so, he found his vocal cords and is really using them...maybe he gets that from his Mommy! He has now decided there is no need to cry or whimper, he just screams when he wants attention or is hungry.

He is definitely going through a change, maybe a growth spurt, because his sleeping schedule is completely different and he has been a bit cranky. He used to sleep between 6-8 hour stretches at night and then wake up to eat and go back to sleep. Now, he only sleeps between 4-6 hours and wakes up to eat and then goes back to sleep. I think we are going backwards with the whole sleep schedule thing!

For those of you aware of his reflux problem, we are trying a couple of new things to calm down the reflux. He recently started eating rice ceral to help "thicken his feeds" to keep his food down, takes a reflux medication twice a day and we are keeping him upright after he eats. The cereal and keeping him upright has seemed to help. Also, I have cut dairy out of my diet as he may have an intolerance to the dairy proteins. Unfortunately, I love dairy products, so this has been extremely hard for me, but if it means I won't get spit up on 24/7, then it's worth it! Hopefully, Tristan will outgrow the reflux soon as he starts on more and more solids.

Since the weather has warmed up, Victor and I have been taking Tristan out and about more often. Recently, we visited the Rainforest Cafe on the Riverwalk and the San Antonio Zoo with some friends. Tristan stayed awake the whole time at the zoo and scoped everything out from his papoose. He would stay in his papoose all day as long as he can see what is going on...he is a very nosy baby!

On Monday, the 5th, we are taking him in for his check up and his second round of shots, so I will post again to let everyone know his height, weight and growth chart percentages. Until then, check out some of the pictures I took over the last week.

Tristan's 3 Month Picture Proofs

Well, as I posted previously, Tristan did not want to have his picture taken on the day of his 3 month appointment, but we ended up with some decent pictures and didn't have to re-shoot the entire session. I posted the link and instructions below to view the proofs. I think they are avialable to view until 04/28/07. There aren't too many pictures, but he has his Easter portrait coming up soon too!

Video of Tristan

I thought I would share some video with those of you who aren't able to see Tristan live and in person. The videos are kind of short since I had to edit them (file constraint), but I thought it might be fun. The first video is something most men (and maybe a few women) will appreciate and the second and third just show off Tristan's loveable personality. Just click on the small sideways triangle on the bottom left of the video toolbar screen to bring up a new window and then click on the sideways triangle in the new window to start the video.

Tristan is approaching 16 weeks

On Friday, the 23rd, Tristan will be 16 weeks old...almost 4 months! That's 1/3 of a year! It truly is amazing how time flies when you are having fun. I can't even imagine our lives without him here and am so happy I get to spend these precious days with him. I feel very fortunate that I am able to stay at home with him and am cherishing every single minute. Check out the new pictures below to see what we have been up to lately.
