A Little Halloween Spirit
I am feeling rather guilty right now because I didn't take out my Halloween decorations and Tristan would have actually enjoyed them this year (I think). I don't think it was just me being lazy, I really just feel like the month went by so fast that every time I thought about getting them out something else came up and boom, all the sudden, here it is 4 days until Halloween!
We did do the pumpkin painting (see post) and Victor and I each carved a pumpkin for the front porch, so we did put forth the the effort to get in the mood. But, I guess the Halloween spirit just wasn't meant to be around here because within 2-3 days after we carved our pumpkins they collapsed!!! First, we woke up one morning to find Victor's pumpkin had fallen off the turned upside-down pot we set it on and had completely caved in on the back side. I thought to myself, "at least mine is still alive", then the next day I went outside to find mine sunken in:(
I was really sad because our pumpkins looked so cute and Tristan seemed to like them...at least I snapped a few pics before they "died"!
Daddy's pumpkin (mean and scary)
Mommy's pumpkin (jolly and happy)
Tristan posing with both pumpkins
What are you smiling about pumpkin?

Almost 2
Over the last few weeks as I have been preparing for Tristan's birthday I keep thinking to myself that I can't believe he is going to be 2 years old. Now I know I express this sentiment quite a bit on this blog (how time goes so fast, can't believe both of my boys are growing up so quickly, etc.), but I just can't help it.
Yesterday I was putting together the party favors for Tristan's birthday party and starting thinking back to last year's party...I made party favor bags then too but the kids probably didn't know what to do with half the stuff, but this year is a different story. They can actually eat the candy and play with the toys! Last year Tristan wasn't that interested in ripping wrapping paper off his gifts and now I can't even get gifts wrapped before he tears the paper off, he wasn't interested in cake or cookies last year and now his favorite thing is a cookie!
Such changes...can't wait to see how different his birthday will be this year from last!

Pumpkin Painting
A week or two ago I bought two small pumpkins for Tristan to paint so that he could express his inner Picasso. I stole this idea from a friend and am really glad I decided to do it. Tristan's teachers at Mom's Day Out had told me he really enjoys the art projects at school so I figured he would like this...correct!
So, while Parker took a late afternoon nap, Victor and I took Tristan out back to paint. He was very excited about his "apples" (what he calls the pumpkins, I guess they kind of look like an apple). He took to the painting right away, even tasting a little bit, I think that might be a side effect of painting with pudding we did a few months ago! Although, one taste was enough for him...I am sure it tasted nothing like the pudding did. He painted his pumpkin, took a few breaks to play, painted some more and definitely required a bath when all was said and done!
It's a pumpkin, aka "apple"
Where's he taking them?
The painting begins
Inspecting his work
Needs a little pink
Just a little more right here
Come paint with me Daddy
Daddy adding a few touches
Showing Tristan how it's done
Daddy cleaning Tristan, as always
What, isn't this what I am supposed to do?
The masterpiece, thus far
Water playtime break
Blowing a kiss to Mommy, I think
"The look"
Maybe he gets it from Victor?
Aahhh, a pretty smile
Such a little boy
What I thought was the final masterpiece
After he was covered in paint, Tristan then decided to undress
Down to nothing
So he could head back to the water
Back to paint the pumpkin a little more
Here Tristan I think you need a little more paint right here
Our mimic, after a little face painting from Daddy, Tristan added a lot more
Applauding for his job well done!
Here Mom, come take my brush before the fence gets painted!
