Catch Up Post 10: Baby Faces

Here's a few funny baby faces that Parker makes when he is feeling better...he should be back to this baby in a few days.

Parker is feeling better, I think...

So far today it seems that Parker is feeling better, other than the throwing up if he eats any baby food. Hopefully yesterday was his worst day and he is on the road to recovery now...I will probably wait to give him any solid foods until tomorrow since he threw up his dinner last night and his breakfast this morning.

Just wanted to give everyone a quick update...I need to go give him a breathing treatment now.

I Guess It Gets Worse Before Getting Better!

Parker seemed to go a little downhill yesterday. He was okay in the morning when we went to the doctor, but became grumpier as the day went on and I could tell he just didn't feel good. Most of last night he whimpered and just wanted to be held (my poor baby). He nursed and then went to sleep last night around 10:30, only to wake up about 15 minutes later and throw up everything he ate. After I cleaned him up and changed him he went back to sleep, but he kept waking throughout the night.

He still had a temperature this morning (it never broke yesterday), so I called the doctor to take him back in. About 30 minutes before heading out to the doctor, I tried feeding him his cereal for breakfast, but about 5 bites in he threw everything up again. After another round of clean up and getting re-dressed we headed to the doctor. His oxygen level was 97% which was good but his chest still sounded "rattley" and he now has an ear infection.

The doctor wants him to have breathing treatments every 2.5 to 3 hours and went ahead and prescribed him the inhaled steriod and antibiotic for his ear...I have to write everything down just to remember what I am supposed to give him when! Hopefully, this is the worst of it and he will begin feeling better now.

As for Tristan, he is just as happy-go-lucky as yesterday...doesn't seem to be bothered at all.

The Finger Crossing Didn't Work

I guess all the finger crossing for Parker not to get RSV just didn't do the trick...I brought him along to Tristan's follow-up appointment this morning and had the nurse swab his nose to test again and sure enough it came back positive. BOO!!!! On the bright side, they are both doing remarkably well and only have to have breathing treatments a couple of times a day (no inhaled steriod).

The doctor said that some kids just tolerate RSV better than others, so I am thinking my kids are two of those kids. Tristan is still running around the house like a maniac, jumping all over everything and being his normal 2 year old self...you wouldn't even know he was sick other than the runny nose, he's even sleeping through the night without a cough. As for Parker, he doesn't even have a runny nose, just a cough here and there (but when he does cough it sounds horrible).

Both of them have to stay away from other kids for at least another week, maybe a little longer for Parker but hopefully the week will fly by...

On a totally different subject, Tristan peed in his potty for the first time ever yesterday! Now, I haven't officially started potty training or anything, I just bought an Elmo potty a few months ago to start getting him familiar with the potty. At first he was scared of it and wouldn't sit on it so I put it away, but pulled it back out about a month or so ago since he was telling me when he pooped in his diaper. Lately, I have noticed he will tell me "poop" and when I check him, nothing, but then a few minutes later there it is. So, I figured maybe he now knows when he needs to go and I would try the whole potty thing.

Yesterday he told me "poop" and there was nothing so I took him straight to the potty and sat him down. He didn't poop in the potty but peed almost immediately. I cheered so loud for him and he smiled so big...he was so proud of himself. He then wanted some toilet paper to throw in the big potty, flush and put the lid down. So, we may well be on the way to potty training, we will just have to wait and see how things go.

Sorry no pictures on this post, but rest assured another "catch up" post will be coming soon with lots of pictures.

Catch Up Post 9: Jump, jump

Here's a few shots of Tristan enjoying his trampoline with some of his friends. I wish I had taken some video because I don't think I have ever heard him laugh as hard as he did when he was jumping with Ashley. He absolutely loves jumping and jumps everywhere all the time...he's quite the jumping bean!

Maybe I will get some video of him jumping, but it will definitely be in a few weeks since we found out yesterday that he has RSV, along with just about his whole Mom's Day Out class! Luckily, as of now Parker has not got it but it is highly contagious. Please cross your fingers that Parker doesn't pick it up from Tristan.

For now, enjoy the pictures.

Catch Up Post 8: What, no nap?

It seems that once your child hits the ripe old age of 2 he (or she) decides they no longer need their afternoon naps. A couple of my friends have been battling the nap issue with their 2 year olds and I am now joinging the battle with them.

I used to be able to get Tristan down for a good 2 hour nap around 1 o'clock every day, but now I can't seem to get him to take a nap for anything. As soon as I mention the word "nap" he starts to get upset and the battle ensues, even though he really is tired. I usually try rocking him either while he is thrashing around screaming or poking, prodding and playing with anything on or near me to distract me from the task at hand. What is it about these little stubborn, independent people that makes them think theydon't need a nap????

So on the days when I lose the nap battle I just let Tristan stay awake and wear himself. This usually results in him crashing somewhere around 4 o'clock in the afternoon and sleeping about 2 or more hours, making it near impossible to get him to bed at a decent hour. Over the past few weeks I have found him like this in the living room...too cute to not snap a few pictures.

Ornament Casualty Count

I am currently in the process (actually almost done) decorating the house for Christmas and thought it might be interesting to see how many of my brand new ornaments make it through the holidays with a 2 year old running around wild. So far the casualty count is only 3, Tristan broke 2 and I broke one (yes, I am actaully admitting this). I added a little section on the left side of the blog to keep track of the casualties, so check it out periodically to see how many of my beautiful new ornaments lose their lives this year! Stay tuned for more "catch up" posts and a post showing off some of my new decor that I have been waiting a whole year to put up (yep, I bought it after Christmas last year and have been dying to put it out).

Catch Up Post 7: Mini Marshmallows & a Yummy Sucking Thing

I promise once I get through all these "catch up" posts I will really do more blogging (i.e. actual writing), but for now you are just going to get a brief word or two and bunches of pictures!!

I took these pictures a few weeks back and after downloading and viewing them on my computer I realized how chubby and white my two little babies are...just like marshmallows, my very own mini marshmallows, but there's nothing cuter than those chubby, white rolls!

Where'd everybody go?

King Kong Tristan

Show me your teeth!
Hugs and kisses...this is a keeper

The classic "what" picture

Another hug for "baby caca" (Tristan still doesn't pronounce the "P")

On a totally different subject....I bought these little sucky mesh bag things when Tristan was about Parker's age that you basically stick any kind of fruit (or other stuff, I guess) in and your child can suck on them to his little heart is content without you worrying about them choking. I didn't really use them much with Tristan, but have decided to take full advantage of them with Parker.

I usually just stick pecahes, pears and frozen strawberries or grapes in them and he will just suck away...I am sure it tastes much better than his fingers or toys! I know he would like bananas as well but they are a huge pain to clean out of the mesh bag whereas the other fruits don't really get mashed into the mesh, making them a lot easier to clean out. Parker loves when I give him one of these to chew on and makes the most hilarious faces and noises while gnawing down...hence the reason for the multiple pictures below. I just couldn't decide which ones to post because they all crack me up!

These last two pictures make me laugh so much...check out Tristan's face in the first one. Can I say gangster wannabe? And Parker has such a cute smile (behind the sucky thing) in the second.
