28% Down, 72% To Go

Back in March I posted a poll (click here) to guess when Parker would arrive and after the end of today 28% of you that voted will have guessed incorrectly! The next date range is from May 1 through May 4, which had the highest vote of 50%, and is also the timeframe which I guessed. I guess I will have to wait to see how right my original intuition was.

Since I know I will be delivering the baby for sure in the next eight days I thought it would be fun for you guys to guess the actual date by leaving a comment on this post. By the way, you don't have to have a Blogger user ID to leave a comment, just click on the comments link under the post, write your comment with your name, choose anonymous for your identity and then publish your comment. I look forward to seeing the guesses!

Week 39...Still Here

Went to the doctor again today and still no real change, other than my stomach now measures to a whopping 42! Fortunately, I think this is due more to Parker "dropping" than any thing else. Quite a few people have told me in the last week that I look like I dropped, so maybe that is a good sign that Parker will be here soon. If not, I have my regular appointment scheduled for next Tuesday and am scheduled to be induced next Thursday in case he decides not to grace us with his presence!!!

Parker's room decor is starting to come in!

We haven't hung anything up, but I am so excited because the canvases I had painted for Parker's room arrived yesterday!!! And, some other stuff I had made shipped out yesterday. Maybe we will actually finish his room before he arrives. YAY!

I snapped a few pics of the canvases even though they aren't hung up. I'll post pictures of the "finished" room in a couple of days.

I put my Mom to WORK!!!!

I thought I should take the time to brag about my Mom a little bit. Over the last few weeks I have asked her to do quite a bit of work to help me complete Parker's nursery. Since I can't sew whatsoever, but like to come up with a lot of grand ideas that involve sewing, I rely on my mother, who can sew, to carry them all out! And if you know me, I am super-picky about how I want things done, like to make sure everything is perfect and not always the easiest person to work with...but in my defense it is sometimes hard to convey the picture you have in your head to another person!

With that being said, I have to tell you that my Mom was able to create the following items exactly as I had them pictured in my head...I guess she must know me pretty well, huh? You might have seen some of these items in the post about Parker's nursery and thought they were professionally made or came with the bedding, but no, my Mom actually made them with her own hands, all without a single complaint. All I did was order the fabric and bark directions! Can you believe she is still willing to work on a couple of other items for me?

Memory board...this turned out fantastic...she even covered the buttons with the brown and cream houndstooth fabric!

Fun Baby Stuff

I just wanted to share some pictures of a few super-cute baby things that were given to me and that I ordered! Since I already had a lot of the "essential" baby stuff this time around, I and friends/family got to buy the fun stuff!

Disclaimer: I was not able to take pictures of everything given to me so please don't be offended in any way, I just grabbed a few things and snapped some quick pics!

Monogrammed diaper bag (and yes, red is boyish!)

I forgot how small they are...

The other day I was putting Parker's diapers in the diaper basket in his room and it made me realize just how small he's going to be!!! I am so used to Tristan and his current self that I am having a hard time remembering what it was like when he was a newborn...those little bitty hands and feet, the falling asleep in your arms, the long stares into your eyes, the first smile. It just makes me want to hold him in my arms right now!

Check out this picture I took of Parker's newborn diaper next to Tristan's current diaper

Tristan's First Hair Cut

Well, it finally happened, we took Tristan in for his first haircut!!! I know it looks like he doesn't really have that much hair, but the few strands he did have were getting pretty long and starting to curl in the back. Victor kept threatening me that if I didn't get it cut he was going to do it himself.

Afraid of what that might turn out looking like, I decided to let my hairdresser cut his hair on Tuesday when I had my hair appointment. Luckily Victor was off on Tuesday and could bring him by while my hair was processing so that Tristan didn't have to stay there the whole time...that would have been a catastrophe!

It started off not so bad. He got to sit up on the bench chair and wear a Scooby cape and we thought it would be over in a few minutes. Well, after Susan got a few snips into the haircut, Tristan decided this whole hair cutting thing just wasn't for him and it became more like when I try to cut his fingernails...screaming, crying, having to be restrained, turning red, getting choked up, etc. All this drama for a little hair cut!

We tried letting him sit in Victor's lap, which worked for a snip or two. Then he got down and walked around a bit. Then we tried another chair where Victor just had to hold him down while he was throwing a fit and Susan did the best she could to finish up his cut. All in all she did a fantastic job considering she was cutting hair on a moving target!

The beginning

Checking himself out in the mirror

One of the first snips

The drama is about to start..can you see the look of worry in his face?

There go the arms and legs!

Tried sitting in Daddy's lap

Not much better

Okay, just hold him down

A few more snips and we're all done

FINISHED...a straight cut in the back

Get me out of here Daddy

The New Stroller

Had to share a few pictures of one of the shower gifts...the new DOUBLE STROLLER! Thanks to Melissa and Christi for getting us this great gift.

Room for Parker and Tristan

Checking out his new ride

Gotta try it out!

King of the World

Tristan's new favorite thing to do is to climb on top of this bin that is temporarily in the kitchen/breakfast room and proclaim his territory! He likes to sit on top like it's a throne and eat his snacks and drink his juice. Once he gets up on top he will throw his hands up and say "yay" as if he just climbed a mountain...I guess it's kind of like his own little mountain!

Pulling himself up

Almost there

Only he can eat on his throne

Loves to dangle his feet off the side

Hahahaha...the world is mine!!!

This is my kingdom!

Eating Practice

I still can't seem to keep Tristan out of the dishwasher, so I am constantly finding him in the kitchen with the dishes out of the dishwasher and him pretending to eat. Maybe he figures the more he practices with spoons and forks, the better he will get!

Okay, pick up the spoon

Scoop up some pretend food

Put food in mouth

Running away...he knows he got caught playing with the dishes

Nursery...Still In Progress

As promised, I am posting pictures of Parker's nursery, but it is still a work in progress! Some of these pictures are a little old since I hadn't been able to download my camera, so don't look at the first few and get worried that we don't have a room for Parker in case he decides to arrive in the next few days! As you scroll down, you'll see it is a little more finished than it appears at first glance.

The only things that aren't really finished are the walls...they look pretty plain right now! I have a few different people making some custom wall decor for me but I haven't received any of it yet. The canvases I had painted are supposed to arrive tomorrow and I'm not too sure on the other things, but I expect one of them within about a week and the other stuff probably won't make it here before Parker. Once all the wall decor is up I think the room will look much better.

Check out the progress so far!

Most of the furniture moved and carpet pulled up...just a little to go

All the carpet pulled up and ready for the wood to be installed

Other side of the room

The floors are done!

Looks pretty good

Parker is going to love this

All the cardboard and stryofoam from Parker's furniture

Putting the crib together

All of these screws came for Parker's bed...once we were finished putting the crib together and still had 3/4 of these left we realized they were for making the bed convert to a toddler bed and full bed! Whew!

The furniture

Tristan decided he needed to play in Parker's room instead of his

A plain wall without the decor

Painted canvases that spell out Parker's name are going to go above the crib (hope they arrive tomorrow)

This wall will look better when the memory board is hung up and the other wall decor arrives

There is a back cushion, it's just not on the chair in this pic
